Research Interests
(1) transcriptional control of cell fate decisions of early pancreatic epithelial cells during mammalian embryonic development; (2) cellular and molecular mechanisms of hepatic fibrosis, cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC); and (3) genetic factors and signaling pathways mediating cellular stress-induced neurodegeneration and cell death in the central nervous system (CNS). Our long-term goal has been to identify novel therapeutic intervention targets and to develop new strategies for more effective prevention and treatment of chronic human diseases, including diabetes mellitus, neurodegenerative diseases, virally and nonvirally induced liver cancers.
